LAURELES, TEXAS. Laureles is off the intersection of Farm roads 1575 and 2893, eight miles east of San Benito in south central Cameron County. It had one business and a population estimated at twenty in 1949. In 1983 maps showed a cluster of various dwellings in the community. The population of Laureles was still estimated at twenty in 1992. During the 1960s a colonia developed in the area and had an estimated population of 363 and sixty-eight dwellings.
