PANOLA COUNTY (Judicial). Panola County was established for judicial and other purposes on January 30, 1841. It embraced the eastern half of present Harrison County; Marshall was to be the county seat. Panola County was abolished by a Texas Supreme Court decision, Stockton v. Montgomery (1842), which declared judicial counties unconstitutional. No part of present Panola County, established in 1846, was included in the original county.
