PLEASANT VALLEY, TEXAS (Fisher County). Pleasant Valley is on State Highway 92 six miles east of Rotan in northern Fisher County. A school was opened in the community in 1899. Pupils met in a one-room box house that was also used for church services. A Methodist church was erected near the school in the early 1900s; it was shared by local congregations of Methodists, Baptists, and Nazarenes. In 1924 a Baptist church was erected. By 1926 the school had been enlarged and accommodated three teachers. The schoolhouse burned down around 1937, and a new building was built. In 1940 Pleasant Valley had a school, two churches, and scattered dwellings. The school was consolidated with Rotan's schools in 1946, and by the 1980s the community was no longer listed on state highway maps.
