Illustrations

*note* - this information is from The New Handbook of Texas print edition. Presently, there are no illustrations in the Handbook of Texas Online.

Almost 700 illustrations accompany the text of the New Handbook of Texas, acquired from a number of sources. In most cases the source of an image is fully noted in the accompanying legend. A few institutions have been particularly helpful in providing numerous illustrations and, in these cases, the institutional name is abbreviated in order to save space. The following abbreviations are used in the legends:

CAH The Center for American History, The University of Texas at Austin
ITC Institute of Texan Cultures, San Antonio, Texas
HRHRC Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, The University of Texas at Austin
TSL Texas State Library, Archives Division
