Growing Up in Amarillo

I was born on September 11, 1946. My parents were living in Amarillo, but my mother's doctor was in Commerce, where she grew up. When it was getting close for my arrival into this world they drove to Commerce, where I was born.

I remember Amarillo so well. I had a wonderful time there. So many good memories that I have, from the first grade at Forest Hill Elementary School to my senior year at Palo Duro High School. And when I was able to drive, Polk Street was my favorite drag on the weekend.
