In the navy manuscripts of the Texas State Library are several letters dated Blasco, May 30, 1836, disclosing a serious misunderstanding between Commodore Hawkins and Captain J. Brown. Hawkins wished to remove Brown from the command of the Invincible, but he failed to accomplish his object.
