The Texas State Historical Association launched its first TSHA Texas History Contest Quiz at the annual TSHA conference
in Austin in March 2000. It subsequently took that quiz on the road, when our staff members attended the Texas Library
Association's annual meeting in Houston. We received very favorable comments and now offer new quizzes approximately
four times a year. (Click here to view the current quiz.)
We encourage school groups to try our quizzes as a way of introducing students to the Handbook of Texas. All of the
questions can be readily answered with the help of the Handbook of Texas
Online or the New Handbook of Texas, published in 1996.
We have also established a Texas History Quiz Archive online, where you can review our
previous quizzes. Each archived quiz will provide you with an immediate score and the correct answers.
