Nancy Beck Young, associate professor of history and director of ethnic studies at McKendree College in Lebanon, Illinois,
and a former member of the New Handbook of Texas staff, has been selected as one of forty-six 2002 Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching Professors of the Year
nationwide. The program honors undergraduate instructors throughout the country who excel as teachers and influence the lives
and careers of their students. Young is the author of Texas, Her Texas: The Life and Times of Frances Goff as well as a biography of the late Congressman Wright Patman. She is currently finishing “Forgotten Feminist: Lou Henry Hoover
as First Lady.”
