The Texas State Historical Association Press is pleased to announce that one of its recent books, Road, River and Ol’ Boy Politics: A Texas County’s Path from Farm to Supersuburb by Linda Scarbrough, has been selected as the winner of the 2006 National Council on Public History Book Award for the best
work published about or growing out of public history. The award will be presented at the Presidential Luncheon and Awards
Ceremony during the National Council on Public History’s Annual Meeting on Friday, April 21, in Washington, D.C.
Linda Scarbrough is publisher of the Williamson County Sun in Georgetown, Texas. She holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in American Civilization from the University of Texas. Her book examines
the many factors that combined to transform traditional agricultural land into modern suburbia. For more information about
