The "Napoleon of the West" in a Napoleon hat and his chief officers, who are probably Gen. M.M. Lombardini (despite the fact that he led mostly infantry) or Cavalry Commander Gen. Julian Juvera (who led the charge on Buena Vista as well as on Jefferson Davis's Mississipi Rifles) in the read cavalry uniform; Pedro de Ampudia; Francisco Mejia; and Francisco Pacheco. Lombardini, who is to lead the major charge on the American left flank, seems to be pledging victory to his chief.
