William Harper, from Ireland, was one of the original members of Morris', or Cooke's, Company of New Orleans Grays and was one of the comparatively few of them who remained with the company until its bloody end. Richard Rutledge, one of Ticknor's Sergeants, qualified to administer Jesse Harris' estate, and drew his pay, for the period Jan. 19 - March 27, 1836. [CMSR, State Library.] LOMR for Ticknor's Company, and the original and all subsequent versions of the T&TR roll of Fannin's men indicate that Harris was a private in Ticknor's Company, and that he perished in the general massacre at Goliad, March 27, 1836.
