his name appeared as third corporal on the muster roll now on the file in this office of the company commanded by Captain U. J. Bullock of Fannin's Command, from the 23d day of December, 1835 until 29th February, 1836; marked opposite his name: "Wounded and sent to Matamoros;" - a notation which does not appear in that form opposite Brown's name on the Land Office copies of the muster rolls, [Ed: The notation was in both LOMR books in 1997. See LOMR in Bibliography] and, in copying, was likely referred, mistakenly, to the name of Francis M. Hunt.

| HUNTER, WILLIAM | Private |
| Age | Burke's Company |
The name of William Hunter appears on LOMR for Chenoweth's Company, with the notation that he enrolled in it December 27, 1835. He signed the Convention Memorial about Feb. 5, 1836 among a group of Chenoweth's men. His name, however, appears on LOMR of Burke's Company for Feb. 29, 1836, so that he had, evidently, transferred to it prior to that date. All the sources indicate that he perished in the general massacre at Goliad, March 27, 1836.
