It appears from LOMR of Shackelford's Company, and the original and all subsequent versions of the T&TR roll of Fannin's men agree, that John Jackson was a private in Shackelford's Company who perished with it at Goliad, March 27, 1836.
They also agree that he is not to be confused with John N. Jackson of the same company, whose name appears separately on each of these rolls.

John N. Jackson was one of Shackelford's men carried on LOMR as having been slain at Goliad, March 27, 1936. This also appears from files in General Land Office which show that bounty and donation certificates were issued to the heirs of John N. Jackson by Commission of Claims, he having "fallen with Fannin."
He is not to be confused with John Jackson also of Shackelford's Company, whose name appears separately on LOMR, and on the original and the several corrected versions of the T&TR roll.
