May 17, 1855, James S. Gillett, Adjutant General, certified that the name of William Wallace appears as 1st sergeant in the company commanded by Capt. P. S. Wyatt who fell with Col. James W. Fannin, March 27, that Wm. Woolwin qualified as administrator of Wm. Wallace's estate, in Rusk county, Texas in Jan. 1849, that bounty and donation certificates were issued to David Gage, as attorney for the administrator, Nov. 9, 1849, and there was a power of attorney from Mrs. Celinda C. Wallace, with the proof of her identity as the wife of William Wallace deceased, on file, authorizing William Woolwin to receive and receipt for all money due her as the heir of William Wallace, deceased.
