and belief Nathaniel R. Brister received the appointment
of Adjutant from Col. Fannin about the middle of February
1836 - Mr. Chadwick was appointed Act. Adjt Genl. and
Brooks Sergeant Major about the same time -

of Col Fannin's command and who was
masacred at Goliad was named Joseph
M. Chadwick and that certificates for his
bounty and donation land issued correspond
ingly and that among said command there
is no other person bearing the name of
Chadwick. Witness my hand & the seal of this office
