VOCABULARY LIST OF NATIVE AMERICAN
and
ARCHEOLOGICAL TERMS
 
  1. chronology – the arrangement of events in time.

  2. bison – a hoofed animal of western North America, having a dark brown coat, a shaggy mane, and curved horns, buffalo

  3. vegetation – the plants of an area or region

  4. fauna – the animals of a particular region or period

  5. occupation – the act or process of holding or possessing a place

  6. phase – a distinct stage of development

  7. aridity – the state of being dry, lacking moisture

  8. artifact – an object produced by human workmanship, like tools and weapons, with historical or archeological interest

  9. archeology – the systematic recovery and study of material evidence, such as graves, buildings, tools, and pottery, remaining from past human life and culture

  10. mammoths – an extinct elephant once found throughout the Northern Hemisphere
