A Reconstruction Plan for Texas
The student will be able to develop a plan of Reconstruction for Texas and the South, and predict how the implementation of that plan could affect American society in the 20th century.
Annexation of Texas
The students will identify important individuals and issues associated with the annexation of Texas to the United States.
Empresarios Wanted
Students will analyze Mexican Colonization Laws. They will identify the empresarios, as well as evaluate their qualifications.
It Was a Boom, Before It Went Bust!
The student will be able to understand the boom to bust cycle by specifically evaluating the rise and fall of the town of Thurber, Texas, and creating a web page to display the cycle and its effects.
Know Your Rights
Students are to analyze the Texas Bill of Rights and interpret the rights in their own words.
Lick 'em & Call Them Important!
The student will be able to research and evaluate the impact of Texas leaders in the areas of science & technology, politics, and civil rights.
Moving Towards Reform
During the late 1800s and early 1900s an era of reform spread across the United States. Since Texas wasn't highly industrialized at this time compared to other parts of the United States, Texas did not experience the extent of the reform movements other parts of the United States did. The students will analyze and evaluate the reform movements in Texas by making a broadside of a reform movement they have researched.
She's Blowing a Gusher- By Pump Jack and the Oilers
The student will be able to show an understanding of early Texas oil discoveries by developing a CD cover, complete with track titles and artists, relating them to oil discoveries and evaluating and justifying their relationships.
Take a Stand
The students will research individuals and issues of the civil rights and equal rights movements and create a collage.
Texas Cattle Kingdom
The student will demonstrate their knowledge of Texas cattle drives and major ranches in Texas by developing a visual display online, depicting cowboy journal entries and research information over a major early Texas ranch.
