The education programs of the Texas State Historical Association, begun in 1939, seek to encourage and improve the teaching of history — especially Texas history — in the schools of Texas. The TSHA provides a continuum of programs and services for students, teachers, and other adults. Programs and services begin at the elementary level and continue through the secondary and collegiate levels to the general public. These programs encourage active learning through hands-on activities, research, and engagement.
The Texas State Historical Association is the epicenter of Texas History for a reason. The combined programs of educational services annually reach nearly 180,000 elementary, secondary, and college students and enhance the teaching techniques of over 1,000 educators per year.
