Anderson Creek rises in central Angelina County about six miles east of Lufkin (at 31°21' N, 94°37' W) and runs northeast for 7½ miles to its mouth on Sam Rayburn Reservoir (at 31°23' N, 94°32' W). The surrounding East Texas piney woods are characterized by flat to moderately rolling terrain surfaced by red sandy clays and loams.
