Araña (Anranta) Creek rises six miles northwest of Riviera in western Kleberg County (at 27°21' N, 97°54' W) and runs east for twenty-one miles to its mouth on Cayo del Grullo, one mile south of Loyola Beach (27°19' N, 97°41' W). Araña is Spanish for "spider." The surrounding terrain is flat to gently sloping and surfaced by loose sand that supports scrub brush and grasses.
