Arenosa Creek rises immediately north of Turkey Mountain and four miles southeast of the intersection of Farm roads 3199 and 334 in east central Kinney County (at 29°24' N, 100°12' W) and runs southwest for eighteen miles to its mouth on the East Fork of Elm Creek, at Farm Road 1572 twelve miles southeast of Brackettville (at 29°13' N, 100°15' W). It traverses flat terrain with locally deep and dense dissection and locally shallow depressions, surfaced by clays that support oak, juniper, mesquite, and grasses. Downstream, water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses predominate. Arenosa is Spanish for "sandy."
