Arroyo Balluco

General

Arroyo Balluco, a canyon with an intermittent stream in its upper reaches, begins 2½ miles northeast of the Mile High Golf Course and ten miles north of Sierra Blanca in central Hudspeth County (at 31°18' N, 105°23' W) and runs southwest for twenty-seven miles to its mouth on the Rio Grande, four miles southeast of Esperanza (at 31°07' N, 105°40' W). It runs through steep to gently sloping terrain surfaced by stony clay loams and sandy loams that support scrub brush, grasses, juniper, oak, chaparral, and cacti.
