Arroyo Segunda rises just north of Panther Mountain in southeastern Presidio County (at 29°24' N, 103°58' W) and runs east for seven miles to its mouth on Fresno Creek, at the eastern edge of Rincon Mountain (at 29°24' N, 103°52' W). The surrounding desert mountain terrain of volcanic rocks is surfaced by sands, clay loam, and rough stone in which sparse grasses, cacti, and desert shrubs grow.
