Artillero Creek rises twenty-one miles northeast of Laredo in western Webb County (at 27°47' N, 99°46' W) and runs south for two miles to its mouth on the Rio Grande, twenty miles northeast of Laredo (at 27°43' N, 99°46' W). It traverses an area of rolling hills and flat terrain with locally shallow depressions, surfaced by clays that support scrub brush, mesquite, cacti, grasses, and water-tolerant hardwoods.
