The Atlanta State Recreation Area is on the shores of Lake Wright Patman off Farm Road 1154, eight miles northwest of Atlanta in Cass County. The 1,475-acre park was acquired in 1954 by a license from the Department of the Army. The landscape features pine and oak forest with exposed red-clay bluffs. Park facilities include camp and picnic sites, a 3½-mile hiking trail, a boat ramp, an amphitheater, a playground, and a beach.
