Edwin A. Atlee, Jr., lawyer, was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on March 8, 1878, the son of Betty (Foster) and Edwin Augustus Atlee. He spent his boyhood with his family in Laredo and acted as page in the House and in the Senate of the Texas legislature while his father was representative and senator from Webb County. He was educated in Austin and Laredo and took his law degree from the University of Texas in 1896. He enlisted in 1898 to fight in the Spanish American War and served as sergeant in Troop K, First Texas Cavalry. He was admitted to the bar in 1902 and practiced law in partnership with his father at Laredo until 1910. Later he formed the law firm of Atlee and Smith at Laredo. He died on October 8, 1938, and was buried in the Elks Cemetery at Laredo.
