Barillos Creek rises eleven miles south of Fort Davis in southern Jeff Davis County (at 30°26' N, 103°51' W) and runs northeast for ten miles to its mouth on Musquiz Creek, a half mile north of Farm Road 1837 and twelve miles southeast of Fort Davis (at 30°29' N, 103°45' W). It traverses rugged terrain surfaced by shallow, stony soils that support Mexican buckeye, walnut, persimmon, desert willow, scrub brush, and sparse grasses. Mitre Peak Girl Scout Camp is on the creek four miles from its mouth. The name of the creek is possibly from barrillo, from barro, Spanish for "clay."
