Bear Creek rises five miles northwest of Pine Mountain in east central Brewster County (at 29°57' N, 102°58' W) and runs south for twenty-one miles to its mouth on Maravillas Creek, nine miles northwest of Stillwell Mountain (at 29°40' N, 102°59' W). It crosses an area of steep to gentle slopes surfaced by variable soils that support scrub brush and grasses.
