Bear Creek rises in northwestern Cass County (at 33°11' N, 94°29' W) and runs southwest for seven miles to its mouth on Kelley Creek, five miles south of Marietta (at 33°06' N, 94°33' W). The stream is intermittent in its upper reaches. It flows through an area of loamy and sandy soils that overlie gently undulating to rolling terrain. The area around the creek is flood-prone, and native vegetation includes water-tolerant hardwoods and conifers.
