Bear Creek rises three miles southwest of Patilo in northern Erath County (at 32°29' N, 98°12' W) and runs north for six miles to its mouth on Big Sunday Creek, in the extreme southern part of Palo Pinto County (at 32°32' N, 98°15' W). It runs beneath rolling and moderately to steeply sloping hills surfaced by stones, gravel, and loam that support scrub brush, mesquite, cacti, oaks, and grasses.
