Bear Creek rises nine miles west of Mountain Home in west central Kerr County (at 30°10' N, 99°32' W) and flows southeast for 12½ miles to its mouth on the North Fork of the Guadalupe River, five miles west of Hunt (at 30°04' N, 99°25' W). The stream, intermittent in its upper reaches, traverses the loamy soils and rocky outcrops of the Edwards Plateau. Stands of live oak, mesquite, and Ashe juniper grow along the creekbed.
