Bell Branch rises three miles west of Italy in southwestern Ellis County (at 32°12' N, 96°59' W) and flows northeast for 4½ miles, across flat land surfaced with clay and sandy loams that support water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses. For most of the county's history, the area has been used as range and crop land. Bell Branch joins Chambers Creek two miles northwest of Italy (at 32°15' N, 96°55' W).
