Big Bear Creek rises about three miles west of Keller in north central Tarrant County (at 32°57' N, 97°19' W) and runs southeast about twenty miles to join Little Bear Creek to form Bear Creek, near the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in northeastern Tarrant County (at 32°52' N, 97°04' W). The creek traverses low-rolling to flat terrain with deep to shallow sandy and clayey loam soils that support scrub brush, cacti, and grasses.
