Big Brushy Creek rises at the confluence of Brushy and Berry creeks eight miles northwest of Terrell in Kaufman County (at 32°48' N, 96°23' W) and runs southeast for 27½ miles, across flat to rolling terrain surfaced with dark calcareous clays that support mesquite and cacti. For most of the county's history, this area has been used as range and crop land. Big Brushy Creek joins King Creek three miles southwest of Kaufman (at 32°34' N, 96°20' W).
