Big Saline Creek begins thirteen miles south of Menard in southern Menard County (at 30°45' N, 99°46' W) and runs southeast for twenty-two miles to its mouth on the Llano River, six miles southeast of London in Kimble County (at 30°38' N, 99°31' W). It crosses flat to rolling prairie with local escarpments and deep dissections, surfaced by shallow and stony to fine sandy loam that supports oak, juniper, mesquite, and grasses upstream and hardwood forests downstream.
