Bissett Mountain is fourteen miles northeast of Alpine in northern Brewster County (at 30°23' N, 103°25' W). With an elevation of 5,483 feet above sea level, the summit rises 1,400 feet above U.S. Highway 67, five miles to the northwest. The area's shallow, stony soils support oak, juniper, and some mesquite. The peak was named for Dave Bissett, an early prospector in the vicinity.
