Black Creek rises 7½ miles northeast of Marietta in northwestern Cass County (at 33°14' N, 94°26' W), and extends three miles east to its mouth on Wright Patman Lake (at 33°14' N, 94°24' W). The area around the creek is flood-prone, and native vegetation includes water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
