Black Creek begins just north of Pleasant Valley in southeastern Kendall County (at 29°49' N, 98°37' W) and runs 3½ miles north to its mouth on Spring Creek, four miles east of Kreutsberg (at 29°52' N, 98°38' W). It traverses an area of steep slopes and benches and flat terrain with local deep dissections, surfaced by shallow clay loams that support juniper, live oak, mesquite, and grasses.
