Black Creek rises five miles north of Decatur in north central Wise County (at 33°19' N, 97°36' W) and flows southeast for thirteen miles to its mouth on Denton Creek, two miles east of the old Allison community (33°17' N, 97°25' W). It crosses flat to rolling terrain surfaced mostly with deep fine sandy loam. The stream is intermittent in its upper reaches. The area around it has been used mostly for range and crop land.
