Blue Branch begins a mile south of Arnett in west central Coryell County (at 31°26' N, 97°53' W) and runs east for seven miles to its mouth on the Leon River, five miles northwest of Gatesville (at 31°'28 N, 97°'49 W). The terrain is generally flat to rolling, with local steep slopes and a surface of shallow clay loam that supports juniper, live oak, mesquite, and grasses.
