Bluff Creek begins four miles west of Rochelle in northeast central McCulloch County (at 31°15' N, 99°18' W) and runs north for 18½ miles to its mouth on the Colorado River, four miles northeast of Fife (at 31°25' N, 99°18' W). It traverses flat to rolling terrain with local shallow depressions and a surface of sandy and clay loams that support water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses in the upper and middle reaches of the creek and scrub brush and mesquite near the mouth.
