Bluff Creek, also known as Wolf Creek, rises a mile north of Brad in northwest Palo Pinto County (at 32°48' N, 98°32' W) and runs northeast for five miles to its mouth at Johnson Bend on Possum Kingdom Lake (at 32°51' N, 98°29' W). In the upper reaches it crosses an area of rolling hills surfaced by sandy and clay loam that supports scrub brush, mesquite, cacti, and grasses. Downstream, the terrain becomes flat and the soils more clayey and stony; oak, juniper, and some mesquite grow there.
