Bluff Creek rises eight miles northwest of Snyder in western Scurry County (at 32°47' N, 101°02' W) and runs south for nineteen miles to its mouth on the Colorado River, twelve miles southwest of Snyder and just south of Farm Road 1606 (at 32°34' N, 101°03' W). The stream is intermittent in its upper and middle reaches. It runs beneath moderately steep slopes with locally high relief, surfaced by silt loams from which grow mesquite and grasses.
