Bluff Creek rises in east and west forks that meet eighteen miles southeast of Vernon in southeastern Wilbarger County (at 33°58' N, 98°57' W). The creek then flows southeast for six miles, crossing the county line into Wichita County, where it joins Rough Creek about eighteen miles south of Electra (at 33°55' N, 98°55' W). The stream runs through an area of moderately steep slopes surfaced with silt loams that support mesquite and grasses.
