Boggy Creek (Throckmorton County)

Boggy Creek is formed by the confluence of North and South Boggy creeks in north central Throckmorton County (at 33°17' N, 99°09' W). North Boggy Creek rises about five miles south of the Baylor county line (at 33°20' N, 99°17' W) and flows southeast for ten miles. The south fork begins ten miles northwest of Throckmorton (at 33°18' N, 99°15' W) and runs east for about seven miles. After the confluence, Boggy Creek continues eastward through northeastern Throckmorton County, where it runs through Elbert, then flows through western Young County. Its mouth on the Brazos River is three miles north of Proffitt in northwestern Young County (at 33°14' N, 98°54' W). The stream crosses an area of rolling hills surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support scrub brush, mesquite, cacti, grasses, live oak, and juniper. Much of the creek's drainage area is made up of sparsely settled ranchland and oilfields.
