Bonita (Bonillo) Creek rises in eastern Potter County (at 35°19' N, 101°43' W) and flows northwest for ten miles to its mouth on the Canadian River, in the east central part of the county (at 35°28' N, 101°47' W). The surrounding flat to rolling terrain has some escarpments in the north and local depressions towards the south and is surfaced by deep, fine, sandy to clay loam that supports hardwoods, especially water-tolerant ones, brush, and grasses. The stream, located on land that formerly belonged to the LX Ranch, crossed the site of the second ranch headquarters. Its junction with the Canadian is now in the Sanford Recreation Area, which includes Lake Meredith.
