Boonetown (Boontown) was off State Highway 94 seven miles west of Groveton in west central Trinity County. It was founded around the time of the Civil War by Whitnall Alston Boone, said to have been the great-nephew of Daniel Boone. Most of its residents moved out of the area after World War II. In the early 1990s only a cemetery remained.
