The schooner Brazoria, commanded by William J. Russell, was a small vessel that took part in the battle of Velasco in 1832. She was anchored at Brazoria when preparations were being made for the Texans' attack on the town, then was commandeered to carry a company of soldiers and two or three small cannons taken from the Ariel to support the ground troops under John Austin.
