Briar Creek rises near Loving in northeast Young County (at 33°14' N, 98°30' W) and runs southwest for thirteen miles to its mouth on Salt Creek, one-half mile north of Lake Graham (at 33°12' N, 98°39' W). It traverses rolling prairie surfaced by clay loams that support mesquite and grasses.
