Brier Creek rises five miles northeast of Lake Amon G. Carter in southwestern Montague County (at 33°34' N, 97°52' W) and runs south for 5½ miles to its mouth on the lake, five miles south of Bowie (at 33°29' N, 97°52' W). It traverses generally flat terrain surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support water-tolerant hardwood trees, conifers, and grasses.
